October 13, 2010

Well, I’d first like you all to just think to yourselves “Better late than never.” As opposed to figuring out how many days we are already into October before I finally announced this month’s theme!…

So, late, but worth the wait, this month’s theme is:

Everything FALL

I love the fall season- the colors, the landscape, the smells, the brisk air, the beginning of holidays…

Everything about fall is great- except one thing: it means I’m wrapping up the mountain biking season, but it means I get to trade it for snowmobiling & boarding, oh and my new found addiction of cyclocross racing… so it’s all good.

Anyway, to announce the JMP giveaway for the month, first look at these:

#1:

#2:

#3:

#4:

#5:

#6:

Those are a few of my fall photographs I’ve taken over the years, in fact, #2 & #3  were taken in beautiful New England, for an assignment at photography school (Hallmark Institute of Photography in Massachusetts)!

So, all of these pictures not only celebrate the beauty of fall and the turn to winter, they also are showcasing the giveaway this month from me. You simply leave a comment on this post or email at free@jasonmcgrewphotography.com telling me which one is your favorite and why you’d like to own the print of it- in one week’s time, it could be announced as yours!! Fun right? So, which one would you like to own? Enter now! Contest ends October 20th!

I really like the third print of the river. It reminds me of the transition between late fall and winter, when things get much colder and more wet.

Although they are all AMAZING, I love #2. The negative space gives it a really nice soothing (and fall-like) quality!

Jason, I love #3. Fantastic and amazing image; green moss, red leaves and smooth blue water. Beautiful. I love to hang a print in my new office. Or a gallery wrap. :)

You are so talented! #3 is my favorite. I’ve always loved the reds and dark orange leaves of fall and that fact that a picture can make water look like it’s standing still. I’ve never understood that?

Love the Birch Trees! Where is that at?

I absolutley love #3. The red leaves contrasted by the green moss. It colors just pop. I also like how the water looks like glass and that little woodland creatures will be peeking their heads around the corner any minute to get a drink. Great work!

I love these! I need a piece of fall to forever-grace the walls of my home. #1 is fabulous. I love the down and dirty vintage effect :) And the colors – ooh la la! We’re decorating our new apartment, and our bedroom is slowly becoming yellow-ified. Pick me!

I think my favorite is #1. I spent a lot of time reflecting on each one, and this was a very hard decision. I think the look of old photography is what realy makes this picture a work of art. Sometimes I think that technology has made pictures become almost to perfect. Just like in music, there is nothing quite like the sound of vinyl, there is something about sitting with your grandparents and looking at old worn pictures of when they were young. Nostalga I guess. Anyway the colors are amazing, and the picture is a perfect representation of an amazing fall. To be honest any of these would be amazing pictures to have!
